Onsite Septic Staff and County Agent Contact Information

DEQ Onsite Septic Program in Baker, Union, and Wallowa counties transitioning to Harney County

Harney County will officially assume administration of the onsite septic program from DEQ in Baker, Union, and Wallowa Counties on June 1, 2025. Oregon ePermitting, the online permitting portal, will be unavailable for Baker, Union and Wallowa Counties during the transition and will reopen Monday, June 2, 2025.

Under OAR 340-071-0120, the Oregon DEQ has entered into agreements with some Oregon counties authorizing those counties to become the department's agents for permitting onsite systems, including receiving and processing applications, issuing permit, enforcing, and performing required inspections.
